Ocular AI, a startup from Zimbabwe, has snagged a spot in Y Combinator’s latest program for winter 2024. This company offers a platform that helps teams in businesses search, see, and make tasks automatic, all in one place.
The founders, Michael Moyo and Louis Murerwa, who used to work at big companies like Microsoft and Google, started Ocular AI in 2024. They came up with the idea because they struggled with finding information spread out across many different software tools.
Now, their startup links up all of a company’s data from different apps, making it easy to find and use information fast. What’s cool is that Ocular AI is the first startup from Zimbabwe to get into Y Combinator.
Louis Murerwa, one of the founders, expressed his excitement on LinkedIn, saying, “We are very excited to be walking in the footsteps of giants like Stripe, Airbnb, DoorDash, OpenAI, to mention a few.”
Being chosen by Y Combinator is a big deal because it means Ocular AI can help lots of different types of businesses with the common problem of accessing information and making work easier.
Now, Ocular AI gets to join a group of successful companies that have gone through Y Combinator’s program. They’ll get lots of help from mentors, funding, and a big network of connections.
