Flutterwave Appoints Renowned ‘Starchitect’ Olajumoke Adenowo to Global Board

Africa’s leading startup, Flutterwave, has appointed Nigerian architect Olajumoke Adenowo to its global board of directors, marking a significant move in the company’s push for international growth.

Adenowo, recognized as “Africa’s Starchitect” by CNN for her illustrious 35-year career in architecture, joins Flutterwave as its first independent non-executive board member. Her appointment aims to strengthen the company’s position across Africa and globally, Flutterwave announced on Monday.

Flutterwave CEO and Founder, Olugbenga GB Agboola, expressed confidence in Adenowo’s strategic insights, emphasising her role in driving innovative solutions and fostering impactful change on the continent and beyond.

Drawing on her vast experience and global perspective, Adenowo intends to support Flutterwave’s mission of connecting Africa with global markets.

She leads a diverse portfolio of projects at AD Consulting and gained recognition as the first African and first Black architect published by Rizzoli, with her latest book, “Neo Heritage: Defining Contemporary African Architecture.” Adenowo’s achievements include being named the 2020 Forbes Woman African Entrepreneur of the Year.

Flutterwave, amid speculations of a potential Initial Public Offering (IPO) on NASDAQ, continues to pursue its international expansion strategy.

Recently venturing into India, Flutterwave aims to offer its remittance services in Asia’s second-largest economy. Established in 2016, Flutterwave has rapidly expanded its presence across approximately 30 African countries.

In December 2023, the company appointed five new executives to key departments following the departure of its former CFO, Oneal Bhambani.

Additionally, Flutterwave obtained a court order to recover $24 million lost to unauthorised Point of Sale (POS) transactions, demonstrating its commitment to financial integrity and security.
