BasiGo Secures $3 Million Funding to Ramp Up Bus Production Across East Africa

Kenyan electric vehicle startup BasiGo has secured $3 million in funding to enhance its bus production in East Africa. The investment comes from CFAO Group, a key player in the region’s mobility sector.

This financial injection, shared by CFAO Kenya and Mobility54, aims to support BasiGo’s efforts in manufacturing electric buses for Kenya and Rwanda.

The company has already received reservations for 600 buses, with plans to expedite production thanks to this funding.

BasiGo’s goal is to deliver 1,000 locally assembled electric buses over the next three years, creating 300 manufacturing jobs in Kenya. Jit Bhattacharya, the CEO of BasiGo, views this funding as a pivotal step in the company’s expansion across Africa.

CFAO Group, recognizing the potential of electric mobility, is actively investing in green mobility startups to foster sustainable transportation solutions in the region.

This investment underscores the growing momentum behind BasiGo’s mission to revolutionise the transportation landscape in East Africa.
