Fintech Startup Chimoney, Successfully Acquires Scrim

Nigerian fintech startup, Chimoney, has acquired the social payment app, Scrim App, in an undisclosed deal. This move, led by Chimoney CEO Uchi Uchibeke, aims to relaunch the Scrim App with exciting features in December 2023.

The original mind behind Scrim, Pleasant Balogun, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition.

Chimoney plans to elevate Scrim App by integrating it with their API and Wallets. Uchibeke believes in the brilliance of Scrim’s concept and sees great potential in this collaboration.

The relaunched Scrim App is set to roll out with enhanced features, courtesy of Chimoney’s API and Wallet as a Service (WaaS).

Balogun, Scrim’s CEO, shared his excitement about the partnership with Chimoney, foreseeing a journey to new heights. The revamped app, according to a statement on Chimoney’s website, will introduce features like earning opportunities, shopping with Scrim wallet balance, and facilitating global real-time payments.

Users of the Scrim App will enjoy flexibility in withdrawing funds, with options ranging from bank transfers in over 100 countries to converting funds to airtime, utilising Mobile Money wallets in 17 countries, obtaining gift cards valid in 210 countries, engaging in cryptocurrencies across seven blockchains, or making purchases on platforms like Amazon and Shopify.

Uchibeke assures users that the full integration of Scrim with Chimoney’s API will bring greater stability and reliability while keeping the Scrim name and brand intact. The future looks promising for this fintech collaboration.
