Bujeti, a Nigerian fintech startup founded in 2021 by Cossi Achille Arouko and Samy Chiba, has successfully secured a substantial $2 million seed round in a funding effort spearheaded by Y Combinator (YC).

Notable participation came from investors such as Entrée Capital, Voltron Capital, UnpopularVC, Kima Ventures, Arash Ferdowsi (Dropbox Co-founder), Alan Rutledge, Tristan Walker of Heirloom VC, and Abdul “Tomiwa” Hassan, the CEO of Mono.

With a primary objective to streamline financial management for African businesses, Bujeti positions itself as a comprehensive platform, consolidating all essential components for seamless financial and operational management.

Cossi Achille Arouko, with a background in software engineering and prior involvement with Paystack, serves as the CEO, while Samy Chiba assumes the role of COO.

The secured funding is earmarked for accelerating Bujeti’s growth, expanding market share, and diversifying its product offerings.

The company plans to introduce credit lines for Small and Medium-sized Businesses (SMBs) and develop new products tailored to enterprise requirements.

Bujeti’s significance lies in addressing the industry’s need for unified tools, offering a one-stop-shop solution for businesses to manage their finances and operations effortlessly. The platform encompasses interactive tools under various suites, including:

Expense Management Suite: Covering cash management, expense workflows, and payments.

Revenue Optimization Suite: Encompassing invoicing workflows and collections.

Financial Management Suite: Providing analytics, reporting, accounting, and compliance tools.

Achille, the CEO, emphasises Bujeti’s commitment to collaboration, positioning the platform as the go-to solution for the entire business ecosystem, akin to platforms like Teams or Slack.

The company’s differentiation lies in providing unparalleled control and granularity in financial operations, facilitating the digitization of complex payment and finance processes.

Achille noted that in the past eight weeks, Bujeti has successfully onboarded nearly a thousand businesses of varying sizes, including SMBs and well-known startups.

This reflects the growing trust and recognition of the platform’s efficacy. The immediate goal is to reach ₦200 million in transaction processing, indicating the increasing demand for a comprehensive, integrated solution like Bujeti in the market.

According to Abdul Tomiwa Hassan, CEO of Mono, an advocate investor in Bujeti, the company’s innovative platform and the leadership of Cossi Achille Arouko position it as a game-changer in the industry.

The investment decision was driven by Bujeti’s capability to address a significantly fragmented market with founders excelling in both technical and business aspects. There is a belief in their potential to transform how businesses handle their finances, marking an exciting journey ahead for Bujeti and its stakeholders.
