Wilfred Bonse to Stand Trial in June 2024 for Alleged Involvement in Patricia’s $2M Hack

Nigerian politician Wilfred Bonse, accused of participating in a cyber hack causing a $2 million loss for Patricia, is scheduled to face trial in June 2024.

The arrest followed allegations of laundering ₦50 million diverted from Patricia’s Flutterwave account during the last gubernatorial election in Cross River state.

Police spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi outlined charges of criminal conspiracy, unauthorised computer system modifications, and fund diversion.

Patricia, in an email to users, assured efforts to recover stolen funds, acknowledging the ongoing process’s time consumption. CEO Hanu Fejiro announced repayments starting November 20, yet Techpoint Africa reported delays, while Patricia is yet to comment on the matter.

Facing fund shortage challenges, Patricia aims for recoveries from Bonse and others to aid repayments. The cryptocurrency exchange explores fundraising and profitability for future repayments.
