Google is looking for African startups that are using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to solve big problems and create new opportunities.
They just announced that they’re taking applications for the eighth round of their Google for Startups Accelerator Africa program.
This program lasts three months and doesn’t take any ownership of the startups involved. It’s all done online, so you can join from anywhere in Africa. And since it started in 2018, it’s helped out 106 startups from 17 African countries.
Folarin Aiyegbusi, who’s in charge of startups at Google for Africa, says they’re really excited to help out the next wave of African AI experts. They want to give them the tools and support they need to build strong businesses. Africa’s tech scene is buzzing with new ideas, and AI could make a big difference in lots of areas.
The program kicks off in June and runs until September 2024. If you get selected, you could score up to $350,000 in Google Cloud credits. Plus, you’ll get one-on-one advice from Google AI specialists, experienced business people, and industry leaders. They’ll teach you all about developing AI and ML, planning your product, and growing your business.
And it’s not just about the money and advice. You’ll also meet potential investors, partners, and customers. Plus, you’ll join a supportive community of other startup founders who are going through the same ups and downs.
If this sounds like a fit for your startup, you’ve got until May 20 to apply. Just head over to the application page and get started. Good luck!
