Maad Raises $3.2 Million to Enhance Retail Market in Francophone Africa

Maad, a tech and logistics platform for small shops in French-speaking Africa, just secured $3.2 million in funding. Venture Platform led the way, with support from Seedstars International Ventures, Reflect Ventures, OuiCapital, and others.

With this cash boost, Maad plans to dominate the market in Senegal, where it already operates. They’ll also bring in new financial services like Buy Now, Pay Later, and expand to another French-speaking country.

Their platform lets small shops easily order products, get reliable deliveries, and access loans. Plus, they offer data and software services, as well as advertising, to brands.

Sidy Niang, Maad’s CEO, says they’re leading the way in French-speaking Africa. They’ve got partnerships with over 80 suppliers and offer more than 1,000 household brands in Senegal alone.

Maad’s mission is to upgrade mom-and-pop shops, which are crucial for local life and Senegal’s economy. They started in 2020 to modernise retail in French-speaking Africa, aiming to make daily products available to people on tight budgets.
