Busbud, a global travel booking platform, has acquired Ratality, a South African company specialising in revenue management software for ground travel operators.
This acquisition will help Busbud offer enhanced revenue management features and provide a more comprehensive solution for travel operators worldwide. The purchase price remains undisclosed.
This move builds on Busbud’s acquisition of Toronto-based Betterez in 2022, another reservation and ticketing management platform. By integrating Ratality, Busbud aims to strengthen its presence in Africa and expand its services globally.
Busbud’s CEO, LP Maurice, described the partnership as “special,” highlighting its importance to Busbud’s B2B offerings. The integration will add Ratality’s advanced revenue management system to Busbud’s Business Suite, including features like demand forecasting, dynamic pricing, fleet and driver management, and solutions for the charter and rental industries.
Ratality’s software has been shown to boost operator revenues by over 30% annually.
Busbud helps travellers book intercity bus and train tickets on over 3 million routes in more than 80 countries. It also offers the Busbud Business Suite, a software platform that includes an inventory management system, a white-label eCommerce platform, and a revenue management system.
This suite has powered hundreds of millions of tickets and is used by over 350 partners globally, helping ground travel operators manage their businesses and expand online sales. The platform supports multiple payment and language options and operates in 16 countries, serving operators of all sizes, including 4 of the top 5 in South Africa.
Ratality’s CEO, Arend de Waal, said the partnership with Busbud will take Ratality’s platform global, unlocking new revenue and efficiency opportunities for bus operators.
