Cameroonian e-health startup Waspito has secured an additional $2.5 million in funding, bringing its total seed round to $5.2 million.
The funds will support the expansion of its services in existing markets and the launch in new ones.
Waspito, founded by Jean Lobe Lobe in 2020, connects users with medical doctors through instant video consultations on smartphones.
It also offers mobile laboratory services, allowing users to have samples collected at home and receive results digitally.
With over 100,000 patients served in Cameroon and Ivory Coast, Waspito plans to extend its reach to Senegal and Gabon soon.
The funding, oversubscribed and led by DP World via Newtown Partners, Saviu Ventures, AAIC Investment, Axian Ventures, and Health54, will also be used to enhance Waspito’s service offerings, aiming to address healthcare challenges across Africa by connecting the continent’s health ecosystem online.
Jean Lobe Lobe expressed excitement about the investors’ confidence in the project, emphasising the team’s commitment to improving healthcare access across Africa.
