HyperionDev Secures $5 Million for Expansion in South African Edtech Scene

HyperionDev, a tech education company based in South Africa, just got a big financial boost of R95 million (about $5 million), making their total investment about R595 million (or $31.1 million).

They haven’t spilled the beans yet on who exactly pitched in this time, but they did say that 23 backers from different countries jumped on board.

With this fresh cash, they’re gearing up to spread their wings in South Africa and the UK. Plus, they’re eyeing up new markets and aiming to make sure everyone has a shot at top-notch tech education.

But it’s not just about expansion – they’re also beefing up their educational offerings and scholarship programs, like the HyperionDev Academy.

According to Riaz Moola, the big boss at HyperionDev, this new funding is a game-changer, highlighting how important it is to boost skills worldwide. He also talked up their partnerships with big names like Stellenbosch University and Imperial College London, which help them stay ahead in the global tech education game.

And they’re not slowing down. HyperionDev is set on making tech education accessible, especially in South Africa. They’re eager to team up with more universities and the government to ramp up digital skills and job opportunities.

Since kicking off in 2012, HyperionDev has been dishing out specialised coding boot camps, both online and on-site, to get students ready for tech jobs. And it seems to be paying off – over 2,000 grads have landed gigs at big names like Amazon and the NHS.
