Solcon Capital and IFC Join Forces to Fund Growth for South Africa’s Deep Tech Firms

International Financial Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, and Solcon Capital, a key investor based in South Africa, have joined forces to boost deep tech opportunities in South Africa and India.

Solcon Capital, formerly known as Convergence Partners Investments, has been leading deep tech investments globally since 2003. 

With a focus on cutting-edge areas like artificial intelligence and blockchain, Solcon aims to drive transformative technologies forward.

Now, teaming up with IFC, Solcon plans to invest in promising deep tech companies, focusing on areas such as 5G, AI, IoT, big data, and cybersecurity. 

This partnership combines IFC’s experience in supporting business growth in emerging markets with Solcon’s deep tech expertise.

Sarvesh Suri, IFC’s regional industry director for Africa, sees this collaboration as a chance to foster innovation and growth in South Africa and India’s deep tech sectors. 

Pramod Venkatesh, CEO of Solcon Capital, believes this partnership will revolutionise the deep tech landscape in both countries, catalysing their digital economies.
